Alumobility and Porsche complete aluminum lightweighting research

Alumobility, a global association dedicated to driving aluminum adoption in the automotive industry, has collaborated with Porsche to complete a new study titled “Aluminum Lightweighting Study: Conversion of the Porsche Taycan Roof Cover from a Hybrid to an Aluminum Design.” The study demonstrates the possibility of converting the Taycan roof cover from a steel hybrid to an all-aluminum design, thereby reducing weight by approximately 40% while maintaining safety, body stiffness and performance attributes.
