Gree Electric's SiC chip factory is expected to start production in June this year

Dong Mingzhu, chairman of Gree Electric Appliances, recently revealed that the company is building a SiC chip factory, which is expected to be officially put into production in June this year. It is reported that Gree's investment in the construction of the factory has reached 10 billion yuan, with the goal of becoming the world's second and Asia's first fully automated compound chip factory. In fact, Gree has already begun to lay out in the SiC field a few years ago. For example, in 2018, Gree invested 1 billion yuan to establish Zhuhai Zero Boundary Integrated Circuit Co., Ltd.; it also established Hunan Guoxin Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. in a joint venture with 8 companies including Changan Automobile; in addition, Gree also invested 3 billion to participate in Wingtech Technology's acquisition of Anshi Semiconductor.
