Naver, South Korea's largest search platform, has decided to purchase Samsung's self-developed artificial intelligence chip Mach-1 worth US$752 million to replace some Nvidia chips and reduce its dependence on Nvidia. Due to supply shortages and price increases, Naver had considered using Intel AI chips to replace Nvidia GPUs, but now has turned to Samsung AI chips. Samsung is expected to start supplying Mach-1 chips by the end of 2024, which will be used for Naver Place's AI map service.
