German company Aixtron invests 100 million euros to build an innovative R&D center

The innovative R&D center of German deposition equipment manufacturer Aixtron in Herzogenrath, Germany was officially unveiled on December 13. The center has a total investment of 100 million euros (about 760 million yuan) and construction began in November 2023. This R&D center is mainly focused on the development of gallium nitride and other compound semiconductor applications to 12-inch wafers. Dr. Felix Grawert, President and CEO of Aixtron, said that the new clean room will help the company further consolidate its leadership in the technology market. At present, Aixtron already has the first batch of 12-inch gallium nitride prototype equipment, which has been integrated into the pilot production lines of several customers.
