Rio Tinto to invest $2.5 billion to expand Rincon lithium project in Argentina

Global mining giant Rio Tinto Group recently announced that it has approved a $2.5 billion investment to expand the Rincon lithium project in Argentina. The project currently has an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate, including a 3,000-ton startup plant and a 57,000-ton expansion plant. Construction of the expansion plant is expected to begin in 2025 and achieve first production in 2028.
