The Stellantis Group recently announced that it will invest US$29.5 million in its research and technology center in Auburn Hills, Michigan, to introduce mobile ground platform (MGP) technology to upgrade wind tunnel facilities. This technology will help improve the aerodynamic performance of electric vehicles, especially optimizing their drag performance under actual driving conditions. The upgraded wind tunnel facilities use advanced MGP technology to measure and reduce the air flow resistance of wheels and tires. According to test data, this part of the resistance can account for up to 10% of the actual air resistance. The new facility enables more precise testing by simulating real driving conditions.
