Toyota plans to expand battery production capacity to 280GWh

According to Nikkei, Toyota plans to increase its battery production capacity from 6GWh in 2021 to 280GWh by 2030. The move is to respond to growing demand for batteries and expand its business into batteries for various types of vehicles, including plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles. Toyota will continue to work with affiliates such as Toyota Industries Corporation and Prime Planet Energy & Solutions to jointly develop and produce batteries.
