At the Semicon Japan 2024 exhibition held in Tokyo, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba delivered a video speech, emphasizing the importance of the chip industry to the economy and noting that Japan plays a "core role" in the global semiconductor supply chain. He mentioned that the government plans to allocate more than 10 trillion yen (about 65 billion US dollars) by fiscal 2030 to support the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries, with the goal of attracting more than 50 trillion yen in total investment from the public and private sectors over the next decade.
