The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that four new advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technologies - blind spot warning (BSW), blind spot intervention (BSI), lane keeping assist (LKA) and pedestrian automatic emergency braking (PAEB) - will be added to the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). This decision will take effect from the 2026 model year. In addition, NHTSA has also developed a 10-year roadmap to update NCAP in stages from 2024 to 2033.
