The State Administration for Market Regulation announces the results of its review of NVIDIA’s acquisition of Mellanox Technologies

In its review in February 2020, the State Administration for Market Regulation believed that Nvidia's acquisition of Mellanox Technologies Co., Ltd. may have the effect of excluding and restricting competition in the global and Chinese markets for GPU accelerators, dedicated network interconnect devices, and high-speed Ethernet adapters. Therefore, the State Administration for Market Regulation made a decision to approve the acquisition with additional restrictive conditions. These conditions include prohibiting Nvidia, Mellanox, and the merged entity from forcing bundling when selling GPU accelerators and high-speed network interconnect devices in the Chinese market, or attaching any other unreasonable transaction conditions.
