WeRide and Uber launch autonomous driving travel service in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates

On December 6, 2024, WeRide and Uber Technologies, Inc. announced that the autonomous driving travel service launched by the two parties in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, has officially been launched. This is Uber's first attempt outside the United States and the largest commercial Robotaxi fleet outside the United States and China. The service first covers the core areas of Abu Dhabi, such as Saadiyat Island, Yas Island and the route connecting Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport. At present, each autonomous vehicle is equipped with a safety officer to ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians.
