Intel's 18A process yield is only 10%, facing mass production difficulties

Reportedly, although Intel sees its latest Intel 18A process as the key to the company's turnaround, Korean media reports show that its yield is only 10%, which means it has not yet reached the mass production stage. In September this year, Reuters quoted three people familiar with the matter as saying that Intel's foundry manufacturing business suffered a setback in testing with chip design giant Broadcom. After receiving the test wafers provided by Intel in August, Broadcom concluded that the manufacturing process was not yet feasible and could not be mass-produced after research by engineers and executives. The latest report claims that Broadcom is a "major" customer of Intel's foundry business and is completely dissatisfied with the Intel 18A process. Broadcom engineers claim that the process cannot be mass-produced, which is related to the low "yield", which seems to be only 10%. Broadcom seems to have canceled its order with Intel and is now looking for a viable alternative.
