Tesla releases vehicle electronic wiring harness interface design to promote industry unified standards

Tao Lin, vice president of Tesla, announced on Weibo that Tesla has made public the design of its vehicle electronic wiring harness interface on its official website, and invited more equipment suppliers and car companies to jointly promote the unified standards of vehicle electronic connectors. The move is aimed at accelerating cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the entire wiring harness industry. Tao Lin likened the vehicle's electronic wiring harness to the human nervous system, and the electronic connector is the key node connecting different wiring harnesses of the vehicle. With the increase in functions, the use of automotive connectors has also increased from dozens in the past to hundreds now, with a wide variety of types. Although the functions of the connectors do not differ much, due to the variety of shapes, large-scale automated and intelligent production has become difficult, thereby reducing production efficiency and increasing production costs. To solve this problem, Tesla has successfully unified more than 200 connectors with different interfaces into 6 standard interfaces to meet more than 90% of power supply and signal transmission needs.
