Specifically, on December 5, CATL announced at the "2024 BMW China Sustainable Development Supplier Day" that it will gradually supply cylindrical batteries for BMW's "new generation" architecture pure electric models in the world and China starting in 2026. Market public information shows that the order was officially signed in 2022. At that time, BMW announced that the cylindrical battery suppliers for the "new generation" models were CATL and EVE Energy, and it had awarded these two partners contracts for battery cell production needs worth more than 10 billion euros. Among them, CATL will supply BMW with a new cylindrical battery with a standard diameter of 46 mm, which will be produced in two battery factories in China and Europe, with each factory supplying BMW with an annual production capacity of up to 20GWh.
