Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TSMC) is in talks with Nvidia to produce Blackwell artificial intelligence chips at its new plant in Arizona, U.S., according to sources. TSMC is already preparing for production early next year. Nvidia launched the Blackwell chip in March this year and is currently producing it at TSMC's plant in Taiwan. Due to high demand for this chip from customers of generative artificial intelligence and accelerated computing, Nvidia said that this chip is 30 times faster when processing tasks such as chatbots providing answers. If the two parties reach an agreement, TSMC's Arizona plant will gain another important customer and is expected to start mass production next year. Both TSMC and Nvidia declined to comment on the news.
