Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix jointly promote LPDDR6-PIM memory standardization

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are collaborating to advance the standardization of low-power double data rate 6 (LPDDR6)-process-in-memory (PIM) products. The move aims to accelerate the standardization of low-power memory dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) and align with the technological shift to on-device AI (processing AI within a single device). The two companies have identified the need for an alliance to commercialize next-generation memory in line with this trend. Currently, their collaboration is in the early stages and preliminary work is underway to register the standardization with the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC).
