Audi and NXP launch UWB technology to realize contactless digital key solution

Audi has partnered with NXP to apply the latter's Trimension NCJ29Dx series ultra-wideband (UWB) precision ranging IC to Audi's new high-end electric platform (PPE) to realize intelligent and non-contact digital key functions. The solution uses UWB technology to achieve accurate and secure real-time positioning, allowing drivers to unlock and start the car through UWB-enabled mobile phones or wearable devices without manual operation. The first Audi Q6 e-tron equipped with this technology will be available in 2024.
