Zeiss opens first global competence center in India, plans to double staff within three years

According to Reuters, German optical giant Carl Zeiss AG (Zeiss) has opened its first Global Competence Center (GCC) in Bangalore, India, and plans to double the number of local employees to 5,000 in the next three years. The plant, which costs 30 billion rupees (about 2.57 billion yuan), will be put into operation in 2025. Miguel Gonzalez Diaz, general manager of Zeiss, said that after the plant is put into operation, it is expected to produce 260,000 lenses per day, which is six times the current output in India.
