Hong Kong Legislative Council approves HK$2.84 billion to establish a semiconductor research institute

The Finance Committee of the Hong Kong Legislative Council has approved a grant of HK$2.84 billion (about RMB 2.633 billion) to establish the Hong Kong Microelectronics Research Institute, which will focus on third-generation semiconductor technologies such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN).
