Major global automakers are developing solid-state batteries

Major automakers around the world are actively developing solid-state batteries in order to gain an advantage in the future electric vehicle market. For example, the BMW Group has collaborated with the US startup Solid Power to jointly develop sulfide-based all-solid-state batteries; QuantumScape, a company invested by the Volkswagen Group, focuses on the research and development of oxide solid electrolytes; and South Korea's LG Energy Solution is developing a new generation of batteries, including polymer and sulfide all-solid-state batteries with better safety performance.
