JDI's plan to build an OLED factory in China fails

JDI's plan to license OLED technology and build a Chinese-funded OLED factory in Anhui Province has failed due to the industry downturn. In October this year, JDI said that it had suspended negotiations with the Wuhu government of Anhui Province on the construction of an OLED (organic light-emitting diode) panel factory locally because the two parties failed to reach a final agreement. It is understood that JDI signed a memorandum of understanding with Wuhu, Anhui Province in September 2023 and held a series of talks to finalize the details of mass production of proprietary eLEAP OLED panels as early as 2026. eLEAP uses a combination of maskless evaporation and photolithography to form pixels, which is not only superior to existing OLED technology in terms of brightness and lifespan, but also has environmental advantages and cost competitiveness.
