Chery Holdings officially announced that the first model of the joint venture factory with Spanish EV MOTORS, the EBRO brand S700, has been successfully rolled off the production line. In April this year, Chery Automobile and EV MOTORS signed a cooperation agreement under the witness of the Spanish Prime Minister to jointly establish a joint venture in Barcelona, restart the legendary Spanish brand EBRO, and resume production at the Zona Franca plant. Initial production will adopt the direct assembly (DKD) method, transporting parts from China to Spain for final assembly. In the future, it is planned to transition to the fully knocked down (CKD) model, including welding, painting and assembly processes. The factory will not only produce pure electric and fuel versions of Chery Omoda 5, but also two new plug-in hybrid SUVs of the Ebro brand, covering the mid-range and mid-to-high-end markets. The long-term goal of the factory is to achieve an annual production of 50,000 vehicles by 2027, and it is expected to reach an output of 150,000 vehicles by 2029.
