Huawei releases new sodium-ion battery technology to improve battery performance

Huawei recently disclosed a new patent for sodium-ion batteries, which aims to solve the problems of low initial coulombic efficiency and poor cycle performance of sodium-ion batteries. The electrolyte additives in this patent include sodium ions and cyclic anions. The ring structure of the cyclic anions contains unsaturated bonds, which are easily oxidized and de-sodiumized, providing an additional sodium ion source for sodium-ion batteries and improving their initial coulombic efficiency. In addition, the additive can form a stable and dense interface film on the surface of the positive and negative electrodes, inhibit the dissolution of metal ions in the positive electrode material, reduce gas generation, and ensure the stability of the positive electrode material structure.
