TSMC expands advanced packaging layout, now has six plants

According to the latest news, TSMC has been expanding its layout in the field of advanced packaging in recent years. It currently has six factories, including Hsinchu Science Park 1, Nanshan Science Park 2, Taoyuan Longtan 3, Central Science Park 5 (AP5), and Miaoli Zhunan 6. In addition, they also plan to finalize the plan for Chiayi Chiayi Chiayi 7 (AP7) in 2024, and have acquired Innolux 4 and converted it into Nanshan Science Park 8 (AP8). AP5 is stepping up its capacity expansion, and AP8 is expected to enter the equipment installation stage in the second quarter of 2025. At least six factories have been planned in the Chiayi plant, solving the problem of the first factory's shutdown. It is expected that equipment will be installed in the third quarter of 2025 and mass production will begin in 2026.
