Major automakers around the world are actively developing solid-state batteries in order to gain an advantage in the future electric vehicle market. The BMW Group plans to launch the first prototype car based on Solid Power battery technology by 2025 and achieve mass production of all-solid-state batteries by 2030. QuantumScape, invested by Volkswagen Group, focuses on the research and development of oxide solid electrolytes, and South Korea's LG Energy Solution plans to achieve mass production of all-solid-state batteries in 2026. Hyundai Motor Group plans to achieve trial production of electric vehicles equipped with solid-state batteries around 2025, and SK On plans to achieve commercialization in 2028 and 2029. Samsung SDI and Quantum Scape of the United States have also conducted in-depth research and development in the field of solid-state batteries.
