The next generation of Wi-Fi, known as Wi-Fi 8, is currently being developed in secret. This time the focus is not on pure speed increases, but on improving the user's online experience. The development of Wi-Fi 8 (currently known as the IEEE 802.11bn ultra-high reliability standard) is still ongoing and will take several years to complete. Although Wi-Fi 7 (the current standard) has not yet been officially approved, this has not stopped Wi-Fi 8 from developing behind the scenes. Some details we know show that MediaTek has released some information about Wi-Fi 8, but the final details will not be determined until the final specifications are released around September 2028.
