Apple increases investment in Indonesia tenfold in attempt to lift iPhone 16 sales ban

According to people familiar with the matter, Apple has increased its investment in Indonesia to nearly $100 million, nearly 10 times the original plan. The move is to persuade the Indonesian government to lift the sales ban on the iPhone 16. Apple originally planned to invest about $10 million in a factory to manufacture accessories and parts in Bandung, southeast of Jakarta. However, the Indonesian Ministry of Industry asked Apple to focus more on its smartphone research and development in Indonesia.
