German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG recently released its financial report for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024 (July to September 2024), showing that revenue for the quarter fell 6% year-on-year to 3.919 billion euros, lower than the average analyst expectation of 3.98 billion euros. At the same time, profits fell 20% year-on-year to 832 million euros, and the profit margin fell from 25.2% in the same period last year to 21.2%. However, compared with the third fiscal quarter (April to June 2024), Infineon's latest fiscal quarter revenue and profit have increased. For the first fiscal quarter of fiscal year 2025 (October to December 2024), Infineon predicts that its revenue will fall to about 3.2 billion euros, lower than the average analyst expectation (3.8 billion euros), and the profit margin is expected to be about "14% to 16%". This shows that demand from automotive customers in Europe and the United States will continue to be weak.
