Characteristics and Applications of LIN Bus

117
LIN bus is a new low-cost open serial communication protocol, mainly used for distributed electronic control systems in vehicles, especially for digital communication occasions for smart sensors or actuators. Its main application scenarios include control of electric doors and windows, seat adjustment, lighting, etc. Compared with other bus technologies, LIN bus has a lower cost, mainly due to its single-wire transmission, low implementation cost of hardware or software in silicon wafers, and no need to use quartz or ceramic resonators in slave nodes. However, these advantages come at the cost of lower bandwidth and limited single-host bus access methods.
