The United States has reportedly further tightened restrictions on foundries supplying 7nm chips to mainland Chinese customers. TSMC has suspended the supply of all 7nm and higher-tech chips to mainland Chinese AI/GPU customers. It is rumored that Samsung is also restricted by the US ban and cannot provide such foundry services to mainland Chinese customers. The industry speculates that Intel, as a US chipmaker, may also join in following US regulations. This means that mainland China has encountered US interceptions on the road to independent research and development of advanced AI chips. Both foundries and AI chip design companies have been adversely affected.
