German carmaker Audi plans to reduce the size of its workforce in the medium term by cutting positions outside of production, with thousands of jobs expected to be affected. The layoffs are mainly focused on indirect jobs at the company, such as in development, and more than 2,000 jobs could be cut. Audi aims to reduce indirect employment by around 15%, with 4,500 indirect jobs potentially affected in Germany alone. Audi's management board is currently in talks with worker representatives but has not yet commented on the number of jobs affected.
