Meta Platforms launches next-generation AI training and inference chip project MTIA

Meta Platforms announced the latest version of its Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) project. MTIA is a custom chip series designed by Meta specifically for AI workloads, aiming to reduce dependence on companies such as Nvidia. The new generation of AI chips is manufactured by TSMC, using a 5nm process, and is optimized for Meta's unique workloads and systems. Compared with the previous version, the new MTIA has more than doubled both computing power and memory bandwidth.
