Kioxia expects demand for flash memory to grow about 2.7 times over the next five years, driven by artificial intelligence. The chipmaker, backed by Bain Capital, is preparing for a major capacity expansion at its new plant in Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture, northern Japan. Although Kioxia had planned to start production last year, it has pushed it back to autumn 2025.
