Private equity firm Francisco Partners has also shown interest in acquiring Altera shares and could be one of the bidders, according to one of the sources. Intel hopes to value Altera at roughly the same price it paid for the acquisition in 2015. It is unclear how much Altera shares Intel will ultimately sell, but any deal is likely to be worth at least several billion dollars.
