The 12-inch wafer fab of VSMC, a joint venture between VSMC and NXP, is expected to reach a monthly production capacity of 55,000 wafers in 2029. The wafer fab will start construction in the second half of 2024 and achieve mass production in 2027, and is expected to create about 1,500 jobs.
