European automakers Stellantis and Mercedes-Benz suspend battery plant construction

European automakers Stellantis and Mercedes-Benz Group have decided to suspend construction of two electric vehicle battery plants due to slowing market demand and high costs for electric vehicles. The two companies are considering shifting their focus to lower-cost lithium iron phosphate batteries (LFP).
