At present, automotive SerDes chips are mainly dominated by TI, ADI, and Maxim, accounting for 95% of the global market share. Domestic automotive SerDes started late, but is also rising rapidly, including Ruifa Technology, Kangzhi and Jinglue. An important challenge for automotive SerDes is that the solutions of major manufacturers are incompatible with each other. Each manufacturer has its own protocol standards, which leads to dependencies in future platform updates. In order to solve the lack of standards for SerDes, the MIPI Alliance announced the latest MIPI A-PHY standard. This interface protocol will be widely used in the automotive field to connect cameras, sensors, displays and other components to automotive SoCs. In September 2020, the MIPI Alliance released MIPI A-PHY SM v1.0, the first asymmetric industry standard, long-distance SerDes physical layer interface.
