According to foreign media reports, General Motors is considering postponing plans to produce electric vehicle motors at its St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada plant. The plant currently produces the fifth-generation V8 engine and the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission for the Chevrolet Corvette C8 and is undergoing restructuring. The local union said that General Motors has not officially notified the Canadian union when it will start producing electric vehicle motors, and claimed that about 300 union employees will be laid off during the restructuring process.
