TSMC Kumamoto Plant 1 starts mass production, supplies Sony and other customers

On December 27, the governor of Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, Takashi Kimura, revealed that TSMC's Kumamoto Plant 1 has started mass production and will supply to customers such as Sony. TSMC confirmed the news. It is understood that Kumamoto Plant 1 mainly produces logic semiconductors with 12nm to 28nm processes, with a monthly production capacity of 55,000 12-inch wafers. The plant is operated by TSMC's subsidiary Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (JASM), and its main customers include Sony and Denso. In the initial stage, it will provide logic chips to these companies, especially chips for automobiles and digital devices.
