According to reports, about half of TSMC's employees at its wafer plant (Fab 21) near Phoenix, Arizona, are currently from Taiwan. Despite TSMC's promise to create jobs for locals, the company has introduced more than 1,000 technical workers from Taiwan, sparking dissatisfaction among local unions. TSMC's Phase II of Fab 21 in Arizona will focus on producing chips using its N3 (3nm-class) process technology. Compared to the Phase I project, the Phase II project will introduce more advanced production processes and technologies, including N2 (2nm-class) and A16 (1.6nm-class) technologies and their versions, which have back-side power supply and performance and transistor density enhancements.
