According to reports, SoftBank Group's Izanagi AI processor prototype could be available in the summer of 2025. SoftBank's founder and CEO Masayoshi Son is determined to create a company that can challenge semiconductor market leader Nvidia. He hopes to achieve this goal by selling a processor designed to handle general artificial intelligence (AGI). AGI is widely seen as a description of generative AI, which is currently driving sales of AI chips into data centers. SoftBank is reportedly raising funds for the project, and Izanagi was proposed in February 2024. The name is derived from the Shinto god of creation and life. Masayoshi Son aims to have the first Izanagi AI chips available in 2026 and provide prototype samples in the summer of 2025.
