Infineon completes first phase of 8-inch silicon carbide wafer fab in Malaysia

Infineon Technologies announced that the first phase of its 8-inch silicon carbide (SiC) wafer fab in Kulim, Malaysia has been completed. The fab is expected to be officially put into use in August this year and will start producing SiC at the end of 2024. It is reported that the total investment in the fab is 7 billion euros and it is a core project of the Malaysian government's 100 billion US dollar plan. At present, the equipment installation work of the fab is underway, and the design takes into account the needs of new equipment, output and structure.
