Despite the U.S. government's attempts to block Chinese companies from obtaining high-end chips, Chinese Internet technology company ByteDance still plans to buy NVIDIA's high-end AI chips from outside China starting in 2025, according to people familiar with the matter. ByteDance's founder Zhang Yiming has discussed with data center operators in Southeast Asia and other regions and plans to buy the next-generation Blackwell chips after they are available. The total amount of the deal is expected to be as high as US$7 billion (about RMB 51.1 billion).
