Renesas Electronics Uses AI to Improve Perception and Safety of Autonomous Vehicles

Renesas Electronics is working to improve the perception and safety of autonomous vehicles through its Reality AI tools and Seeing with Sound solutions. These tools and solutions use advanced signal processing technology to analyze different signals generated by the environment to achieve a higher level of autonomous driving. For example, the Seeing with Sound solution listens to the sounds of emergency vehicles, other vehicles on the road, pedestrians, and even cyclists through the vehicle's microphones or vibroacoustic sensors. In addition, the Reality AI tool can also analyze data from a variety of sensors, including accelerometers, gyroscopes, IMUs, and microphones to develop machine learning models to calculate feature sets based on mathematical, statistical, and logarithmic formulas.
