Volkswagen has successfully cast a rear underbody panel on a 4,400-tonne die-casting machine at its Kassel die-casting plant, laying the foundation for a highly innovative platform component for the future SSP (Scalable System Platform) electric drive platform. The technology is currently being tested for the Volkswagen Trinity model.
