EU relaxes high-speed NOA function access certification

On October 4, 2024, the new United Nations Regulation on Driver Control Assistance Systems (DCAS) was adopted by the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) of the Economic Commission for Europe at its March 2024 meeting. Step 1 of the regulation has come into effect in September 2024. The new version of Step 2 is currently under review by WP.29 and is expected to take effect at the end of 2025. The biggest update of the new version is that it supports type certification of high-speed NOA and allows hands-free driving on some roads.
