In 2024, overall car sales in Sweden fell 7% year-on-year to 269,500 vehicles. The distribution of power systems is as follows: pure electric vehicles (BEV) account for 35.0%, a decrease of 3.7% from 2023. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) accounted for 23.4%, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) accounted for 10.1%, an increase of 2% year-on-year. Internal combustion locomotives (gasoline + diesel) accounted for 29.5%, basically the same as the previous year. Electric vehicles still dominate the market, but their growth rate has slowed significantly, especially the share of BEVs has declined.
