Philips has sold its MEMS fab and foundry in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, to a Dutch investor consortium for an undisclosed amount. The foundry, which provides components for ASML lithography machines and other products, has now been renamed Xiver. Xiver has been acquired by a consortium of private investors led by Orange Mills Ventures under Cees Meeuwis. In addition to providing components for ASML's extreme ultraviolet lithography equipment, Xiver also provides infrared detectors for the automotive sector and has the production capacity of capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs).
