China targets Germany's Volkswagen over planned plant closures

Chinese officials and automakers have shown keen interest in the plants that Volkswagen plans to close, according to people familiar with the matter. The move is aimed at expanding China's influence in Germany's auto industry, which has some of the most famous car brands with a long history.
