Tesla considers stopping production of 4680 batteries

403
Tesla is reportedly considering stopping production of 4680 batteries at its Giga Texas factory due to poor energy density and charging performance, as well as higher costs. If cost reduction cannot achieve the desired results before the end of the year, Tesla will abandon the production of 4680 batteries and switch to purchasing from external suppliers. Over the past year, Tesla's 4680 battery production has achieved significant growth, with cumulative production reaching 40 million units, and average weekly production of nearly 1 million units. The batteries are planned for use in electric vehicles produced at Gigafactory Texas and other factories.
